Duke Spirit - We love the way these London-based rockers have taken the “spirit” of classic rock (of the Americana and soul variety) and added a dose of slick modern edge—as evidenced on their acclaimed album Neptune. We’re also big fans of singer Liela Moss’s powerful, husky Joplin-esque vocals. Taking time out of their busy schedule, Moss and guitarists Dan Higgins and Toby Butler dropped by our Los Angeles studio to perform stripped down versions of their tunes “Step and the Walk,” “Into the Fold,” and “Dog Roses.”
Singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson has a voice that exudes emotion, sensuality and plenty of old-timey style. Her minimalist songs seem readymade for acoustic performance, so, of course, we jumped at the chance to have her come into the studio.
The laid back trio met up with the LiveDaily crew to tape a session with us in Austin, TX where they were on the bill for SXSW. Check out how these Malibu natives brought California surf and sand to the Southwest.
A favorite of Los Angeles’ live music scene, The 88 have earned a rabid following thanks to three catchy-as-can-be albums, extensive touring and frequent appearances on TV soundtracks. See the group perform songs from their new album, Not Only...But Also.
